Pinna

Terms

The license terms for Pinna, written to be read. Use it free, or buy Pro once.

Last updated 18 October 2026.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Breukr, based in the Netherlands ("we", "us"). They apply when you download, install or use the Pinna app for macOS. By using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

You are licensed to use Pinna; you do not buy the software itself.

Free use

You may download and use Pinna for free. You do not need to buy anything or create an account, free use has no time limit, and you may use it for work, including paid work. Free use covers the features that are not marked Pro in the app and on this website.

The rules under What the license allows that are not about license keys apply to free use as well.

The Pinna Pro license

Pinna Pro adds the features marked Pro: AI notes, agent access and cloud transcription. It is a one-time purchase at the price shown at checkout and includes free updates for all 1.x versions. That means:

  • You pay once. There is no subscription for Pinna Pro.
  • The license does not expire. You keep the right to use Pro in the version you bought, plus all 1.x updates.
  • A future major version (2.0) may be a paid upgrade. The 1.x version you bought keeps working either way.

Pro features that use a cloud engine or cloud model work with your own account and key at that company. Their prices and terms are between you and that company; Pinna Pro does not include them.

The Pro trial

Every install starts with a free trial of Pinna Pro for 7 days, counted from the first time you open the app. Changing your Mac's date does not extend it. The trial costs nothing and does not turn into a purchase. When it ends, Pinna keeps working as Free.

When Pro ends

Pro ends when the trial is over, when a purchase is refunded or when you deactivate a Mac. In each case Pinna keeps working as Free on that Mac, and nothing is deleted: your recordings, transcripts and notes stay on your Mac and stay readable and searchable.

What the license allows

A Pinna Pro license is for one person. It works on one Mac at a time; a license for two Macs works on two Macs at once, which is the most one license covers. A license is personal: do not share it with other people.

You can move your license to another Mac at any time, at no cost: choose Deactivate in the app's License window, or free the Mac in the customer portal, then enter your key on the new one.

The app activates your key online once and checks it again about once a day. It keeps Pro working offline for up to 30 days between checks; after that it works as Free until it can check the key again.

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you may not:

  • share, sell, rent or give away your license key;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law allows it regardless of this restriction;
  • remove or work around any license check, the trial or notices in the app.

Using it for work

You may use Pinna for work, including paid work, both free and with a Pro license. For a Pro license this applies to freelancers and to employees who are the main user of a Mac, including a Mac provided by an employer or client. If your organization wants licenses for a team, e-mail us.

Buying a license

Pinna Pro licenses are sold through Polar, which acts as reseller and merchant of record. Your purchase contract is with Polar, which handles payment, invoicing and sales tax under its own terms. Prices are in US dollars, or the same amount in euros in the EU, and include VAT where it applies. After your purchase you receive your license key by e-mail.

Refunds

If Pinna Pro is not right for you, you can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase. No questions asked. E-mail support@getpinna.app and we will arrange it. The refund is handled through Polar, the merchant of record, and goes back to the payment method you used. A refunded license may no longer be used; Pinna then keeps working as Free.

This refund promise comes on top of your statutory rights, such as the right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU. It does not limit them.

Acceptable use and recording consent

Use Pinna lawfully. You are responsible for what you record, transcribe and share, including respecting other people's privacy and the rules that apply where you and they are. Some places require everyone in a call to consent to a recording. Tell people when you record, and do not use the app to record people without the permission the law requires.

Transcripts and notes are made by software and can contain mistakes. Check anything important against the recording before you rely on it.

Other companies' services

Cloud engines, cloud models, local model servers and AI agents you connect are provided by other companies under their own terms. We are not responsible for them, for what they do with data you choose to send them, or for their availability.

Intellectual property

Breukr owns the app, its code, design and the Pinna name and logo. These terms do not give you any rights to them beyond the license described above.

What you create with Pinna, your recordings, transcripts and notes, belongs to you (and, where it applies, to the other people in the call). We claim no rights to it and, since it stays on your Mac, we do not receive it. See the privacy policy.

Warranty disclaimer

We work hard to make Pinna reliable, but beyond your statutory rights we provide the app "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we make no other promises about it: we do not guarantee that it will be free of errors, work without interruption or suit your particular purpose, and we disclaim implied warranties such as merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Keep copies of recordings that matter to you.

If you are a consumer, you keep the statutory rights you have under the law of your country, including the rights to conformity of digital content under EU law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost data, lost profit or business interruption. Our total liability for any claim connected with the app is limited to the amount you paid for your license, if any.

These limits do not apply to:

  • loss caused by our intent, gross negligence or conscious recklessness;
  • death or personal injury;
  • your statutory rights to conformity of the app as digital content;
  • any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

Governing law

Dutch law applies to these terms. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, whatever these terms say. If you live in the EU, you may also bring a claim in the courts of your own country.

If you live in the United States, nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the law of your state. Some states do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limits, so parts of the sections above may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when new license types become available. We will publish the new version here with its date. Changes do not take away rights you already have under a license you bought.
